I have about 2 years of experience in a service-based support role with limited hands-on development work. With AI-assisted development becoming standard, I want to understand the minimum technical foundation interviewers expect for an entry-level SDE in 2026.
From a purely technical and interview-expectation standpoint, what would be considered essential skills? For example:
Proficiency in at least one core language (Python / Java / C++ / etc.) Data structures & algorithms OS and DBMS fundamentals Version control (Git) Basic web development understanding Ability to work productively with AI-assisted coding toolsWhat would hiring teams consider the minimal technical skill set required for an SDE to be productive and interview-ready in 2026?
