APK size: 7MB

Rename to zip, unpack, total size now 12.7MB (13.4MB used space)

Install on any device (emulator or physical), check system settings > app size: 24.6MB

Why is this? How can I shrink the installed 24.6MB to 13.4MB? Even if Android saves the original APK, then unpacks it, it's still 13.4MB + 7MB = 20.4MB (less than 24.6MB)

This is for an app that I have created and I'd like to know what's going on. There may be a way or two of reducing APK size somewhat, but this is not what I am trying to accomplish.

So in the Device Explorer, I found the APK (7MB) but also an extracted 3rd party library that I am using: 5.1MB.

If I assume that all the contents of the APK have been extracted to some hidden place, then: 12.4MB + 7MB + 5.1MB = 24.5MB, which is very close to what is claimed.
