I am currently a 3rd-year Computer Engineering student from a tier-3 college in India. I know basic Java, DSA, and I have started learning web development.
I am confused about career direction because many people say the job market is difficult due to AI tools, layoffs, and high competition. I was planning to learn the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js) for full-stack development, but I am unsure if it is still a good option in 2026.
Since I already know Java, I am also considering switching to backend development using Spring Boot instead of focusing on MERN.
My goal is to get a stable job after graduation, so I want to choose the better path for long-term opportunities.
I would like advice from developers who are already working in the industry:
Is MERN still worth learning in 2026 for freshers?
Is Java + Spring Boot a better option for backend-focused roles?
Which path offers better job opportunities for someone from a tier-3 college?
I am looking for practical advice based on current hiring trends and real experience.
